The probiotic
Bacillus subtilis DE111
DE111 is a spore-forming strain, which helps it stay stable through heat and stomach acid. In a 105-day trial of 50 adults with occasional irregularity, the share of normal stools rose from 54% to 64% with DE111 (1 billion CFU a day) and fell with placebo.2 A smaller 4-week pilot in healthy adults confirmed DE111 reached the gut, with mixed results on other measures.3
